  • Budging in line

Everyone always gets in line at the factory to punch in and out before and after their shift. We are allowed to start punching in at 15 mins before our shift, but we don't get paid until the hour we start (don't worry, no one goes into the production area until then, either, for that reason). So once it gets to be about that time, anyone walking in or out will notice lines forming by the punch clocks.

Lately I've been noticing some pretty rude line budgers at work. There were will a solid line of like, 10 people, and just as someone is walking towards the machine to put in their code, someone that just walked in the door will sprint to it and get to it first. LIKE IT MATTERS WHO PUNCHES IN FIRST!

It really irks me. I know we all get touchy about personal space on here, but I am half tempted to glue myself to the person in front of me at the beginning/end of every shift because I'm sick of people just budging in line. I mean, you see a line of people and the next person is ready to go, but you just waltz right in and punch away.

I thought we were all adults, but I guess some people never learned how lines worked as children.

a bit OT, but kinda along those lines....

My Team Leader had to have a talk with the team today about people taking 20-30 minutes to get on their phones after they clock in. As soon as we clock in we are supposed to find a desk and log in, and that takes no more than five minutes or so. the team leader's announcement was met with some huffs, puffs, and general discontent. Apparently people don't get that clocking in, going to eat breakfast, and then logging into their phones is actually STEALING COMPANY TIME!

I wish I was still working at a factory job. I for one love it. But I just couldn't handle being treated like I did, at the last one. Getting into trouble for finishing my work early, and having to wait, until the next job was ready to get started on.

That seems to be pretty common in most workplaces from what I've seen. The last hour seems to be wasted even more than the first. With people logging out early and slowly making their way towards the door.
