I have to disagree with the put the fb post back up. Not because I think you are wrong about the place. but because more and more employers check out their employees or potential employees fb, or other social media, and they may see that and decide that you would do the same type of posts about them. More and more, negative fb posts and stupid pictures are preventing people from finding decent jobs. Don't sabotage yourself that way.

Agree with Teskeria about the FB post -- not because it might annoy ralerin's past employers, because who cares about them, but because it might put off future ones (unless ralerin plans to refuse to accede to future employers' requests to 'friend' them and also unless said FB page is set to extremely high levels of privacy).

I wrote up a long, profanity laden post on FB last night about why I was qutting (said nothing about the managers, only that I hated the customers and the job itself) and got reamed about it when I handed the notice into SM this morning. SM doesn't have FB but several of my managers do and they forwarded the post in question to SM. took it down. Learn from my fail, kids. :/
Good move. A lot of places look at applicants' Facebook pages now, and they won't hire you if they think you're going to trash them on Facebook.

I honestly have no idea. Sexual harrassment on it's own may not be, but managements refusal to do anything about it can turn it into a hostile work environment and unsafe working conditions which would be valid reasons.
IANAL, but from having dealt with it at a few jobs as a 3rd party (not accused or anything), it's something that a company can get sued over if they try to ignore it. Corporate teams HATE being sued, naturally, so sexual harassment usually gets massive attention and response...but you need some kind of proof (witness statements, etc). If it was against the manager and it was ignored, with people knowing about it, you would have a potential case for a settlement. Ask a lawyer, a lot of them can offer a free consult in a lot of cases.

In terms of value, I've seen 3 people sue for sexual harassment that was improperly dealt with. The smallest settlement I saw any of them get was still 6 figures, after lawyer fees and such. There's a reason there are so many litigation lawyers out there...

It was along slightly different lines, but I (along with others) was given the ultimadum not long ago "Deal with it or leave" by my last boss........and I left.

It's bullshit. People like the OP are forced to pretend to be someone they aren't or leave, people like me have to give up a shift or job they love because of a bully.

You don't necessarily need proof. What you must do is tell the harasser that you are offended by the statements and not to talk that way to you again. Do not laugh, smile, sound apologetic or conciliatory. Say it in plain, serious language. It also helps to have documented details: Date, time, comments made. Enough such information will often get the harasser spoken to, possibly threatened with termination. sometimes actually fired. NOT ALWAYS. Just sayin' that you don't always need witnesses, but it helps, of course. You may not be the only person who has filed a complaint against this person with HR. Any company that laughs off such complaints and/or refuses to deal seriously with them....is scum.

So, last month I asked for Saturday (the 16th) off. Put in my request on a yellow post it, handed it to manager S1 and went on my merry way. Last week I saw I was on the schedule for the 16th and told them "I asked for that day off already, I can't be in."

"Well I never got that and cashier S1 asked for that day off already, so I can't give it to you."

"But I can't come in. Period."

"Well I never got the note."

"...I wrote it down on a yellow post it and gave it to you."

"Well I'll check but I never found it. It's nit in the book, it's not on the bulletin board, it's nowhere to be found!" (Bulletin board is located in the office and is where managers post requests for time off. If you want time off, you do exactly as I said, write down your note on a post it or scrap of paper, sign it, hand it to a manager).

"Look in that pile of paper. *point*"

S1 did and hello, yellow post it, asking for Saturday March 16th off in my handwriting, signed by me.

"Well it's a privilege, not a guarantee, doesn't mean you'll get it off," Manager P said.

                        "I. CAN'T. COME. IN."

"You should've told me before I printed the schedule. But, whatever, we have the 2 new girls, I'll have to pull one of them in," S1 huffed.

So I went to the family function we had and came back yesterday. Now, I work every Saturday and I was supposed to be working on the 23rd, like every Saturday. This week, I'm not. S1 removed my Saturday in retaliation for not coming in on the 16th.

                        *sigh*

Now see that right there would ALMOST have been enough for me to say fuck the two weeks. I mean, if SM would've tried to force me to come in...I'd have said hey look at that you're out an employee. Have fun with that. On a serious note, though, you really are doing the right thing, for your sanity, among other things!

I am sure this had absolutely nothing to do with Ralerin handing in her two weeks. Not one thing.

It sounds like you're doing the right thing by leaving. No job is worth your sanity. I'm sure you'll find something even better soon.

The perfect response to this IMHO would be:

"I've already given you my two weeks notice, and I only have x days to go. What are you gonna do, fire me?"
