I've been on my job just a couple of months over 3 years now. I just had my annual evaluation back in February where I got my standard 4+ out of 5 review and the typical small raise. I wasn't unhappy with it; in fact, after my last 2 jobs, I was tickled pink to just have a job.
Bossman and I usually have some general chatting going on every afternoon.
Today, we're chatting, me standing at his door, him behind his desk. He had a puzzled look on his face. He just looked at me and said, "we need to talk about something." Que my
face. I asked, "what have I done?" I'm probably the only employee he has that will own up to a mistake immediately and I was panicking trying to figure out what was up. So, lo and behold, he's working on next year's budget in prep for the start of our fiscal year coming up. Where's this going????? Well, he was trying to budget in for the raise he wanted to give me on my next evaluation (February 2014) and was talking to his boss about it. There's some sticky rules about the type of raise he was wanting to give so his boss told him to just do it now! $.99/hour raise out of the blue!!! I just about fell over! 
After my last job (some of you may remember the story about a woman accusing me of mixing up her meds) I have been so gun shy about everything. I say a little prayer everyday that I am so lucky to have a place to work where I don't feel threatened or abused. I look forward to going in every single day! How can a girl like me get so lucky??
