I stated in this thread that I was interviewing for a job at an aquarium.
I interviewed today with not the boss per say, but he stated he was third from the top. I gotta say though, for a guy that was so high up, he was really laid-back, being all; " Well, I gotta read these papers for you just cause corporate tells me I have to... Trust me, I think it's stupid too." I just had to laugh.
It was an interesting interview. Often you have to sell yourself, sometimes it's hard. I've taken plenty of mock interviews before this and I was shaking like a leaf and struggling. This one was so easy, though. It only asked me questions that brought out the best in me. Yeah sure, it might be because I had my job as a Student Office Aide (which was essentially like an unpaid intern but for only one class period a day.) but I think the only question I really struggled on was, "Why should we hire you?" and being rather modest by nature, I had to think a bit.
But at the end he was smiling, and he went to get my criminal background papers. I ended up meeting my interviewer's boss (2nd from the top) and he was totally cool as well.
I'll skip the details of filling out the papers and what happened there aside from I was able to make small talk with them while filling them out. At the end while we were leaving he said, "Well, we're definitely interested, we'll give you a call in the next few days to set up times for orientations that will work for you."
So, unless they're going to spend money on orientations for someone they aren't going to hire, it sounds like I have a job! Not bad for a first official interview!
