  • I finally found a job that I want

I am super excited about this!

I had applied a few months ago for a major bookstore chain, but the chances of me actually getting a job there is pretty slim now. So a few weeks ago, I came across a backpacker lodge in the middle of downtown Vancouver. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!

It's got everything that I've been looking for in the longest time. I've always wanted to meet new people, have new experiences, and to have a job away from where I live. This is my ticket to all of that.

My mom was a tad hesitant when I told what I wanted to apply for a housekeeping job. I think she thought the place would be a bit of a dive, but after I showed her some pictures, she's pretty comfortable. She even encouraged me to put myself down as being interested in trying any job.

It's also an 18+ only place, which is what I was also looking for. No offense against children between 2 and 4, but after having to listen to indoor screaming and shouting for 3 days in a row, I'd rather get a break from that.

I'll get to have the extended interaction that I want with people, since I hardly get to do that with the customers.

My co-worker friend is pretty cool with my job search, and two of my former coworkers agreed to be references for me (extra awesome).

I've had some people try and convince me to take extra hours at my job, because money and benefits. But what's worth more - making extra money and being happy, or making extra money and staying at a job that makes you feel like shit?
