I got a ~9% raise to my monthly pay on 2004 and the same time many of my colleauges got nothing. My monthly pay jumped up almost 200€ (around US$250)/month !!

It was VERY difficult for me not to tell/brag about it when these other people were mad and cursing out loud for NOT getting a rise that time.

At my job, we have grades, not unlike the armed services, but they arent ranks persay.

my department has three grades, well four now...
I was one of the people with the lowest grade until a couple of months ago, when everything got reshuffled. I ended up getting more then a dollar raise, course due to previous problems at this work place, just about everyone gave me a hard time about it, upset that they got nothing, and had been there for years, while i had been there only a few months.
I never said anything, and i tried to avoid the subject whenever someone started talking about it, but me and the other guy who got the bump and raise, both agreed, that we didnt ask for the raise, so they shouldnt be mad at us.
Then just this month we all got raises, mine was like 2.9% or something, came out to about 30 cents, I hate percent raises sometimes... A man making 10 bucks an hour gets a 10% raise, its a dollar, not bad, does help.
a man making 100 bucks an hour gets a 10% raise, its 10 bucks, thats alot more.

Course it lets the higher ups take care of themselves. sure that guys making 200 thousand a year, but he gets a 5% raise while you who makes 20 thou a year, gets a 2.5% raise, and its only fair, I mean hey, he's an administrator, hes got better education, and his job is important, even if he cant do crap if my department was to not bow to his ever beck and call.
(Its amazing how even working in a department as fundamentaly important as mine, We are considered the lowest of the low, no better then dog turds by the administration of this place.)
