I was promoted to a management function about 3 months ago. Since our store is rather small, I had to learn "everything" there is to do. The program we use to do inventory, opening and closing, processing merchandise returns and recalls, servicing the photo-printers and so on...
Now saturday was the first day I was left to close the store "by myself" (i.e. no other manager there). Got everything done in time too. Shelves clean, trash sorted, fridges restocked, alarms properly activated.
The only screwup: It took me almost an hour to get the safe right, I miscounted several cash-baggies and change, though I am usually really good at that part
So it was almost 10pm when I got home (we close at 8).
[braggart mode]The person that lost their management position when I became manager is roughly twice my age, and has an education in this field, which I don´t have. She has been doing this kind of job for more years than I have even lived. Luckily she wasn´t too pissed when this happened, not being a manager allows her to work less hours, which she had wanted for years, because she needs more time for her family. [/braggart mode]
Downside: I have to come in on my day off today, to hand over my set of keys (we have less sets of keys than there are managers)
