I got the job with the company that owns hospitals. They left me a message yesterday, so presumably I passed the background check and drug screening. I have to contact them Monday to find out when I start.

It is a lateral move, as I mentioned earlier--the salary is the same--but the opportunities are going to be better, and there are plenty of perks and overall improvements over my current situation. I will be putting in my two weeks' notice on Monday.

Thanks, everyone who's offered good wishes!!

Awesome! Sounds like a good career move.

So what time does the start?

I'll bring the chips and beer. And plenty of whine and cheese.

          Congrats to you.

I put in my official notice today. It's not quite two calendar weeks' notice, because two weeks from today is July 9, and that's the day that my orientation at the new job starts. But it is two workday weeks; Friday the 6th will be my last day. I've gotten hugs and well wishes from coworkers and absolutely NO reaction whatsoever (so far) from my boss or her boss.

Then again, I put a letter on her desk right before she went out to lunch. I asked her if she had a moment to talk because I thought face to face would be the best way to handle it, and she emailed me back and said we could talk when she got back from lunch.

I was actually hoping I'd have a few days' downtime to relax and take care of some things I needed to do, like taking my puppy to the ASPCA to get his second round of shots that were included with his adoption fee, but the new place says they have orientation every other week, and if I couldn't make the 9th, I'd have to wait until the 23rd, and HR would have to check with the manager to see if they could keep the position open that long, so of course I said I could make the 9th, no problem.
