  • some kind of medical emergency

I was in the office doing some paperwork and I hear from out in the store "Holy shit she's having a seizure!" I run out and there's a lady parked right out in front of the store sitting in her car spazzing out. She had foam and some brown crap dripping out of her mouth...I thought she might have OD'd or something, or maybe it was a seizure, but anyway...everyone else was panicked to hell, and usually I don't deal with stress very well AT ALL but I actually kept my cool when everyone else was freaked and I got ahold of 911 and dealt with it, and we got an ambulance and a police officer there in no time to take care of it. hopefully she turned out ok, she got over the worst of it before the ambulance even arrived, although she was still a bit loopy, and they took her to the hospital.

    Yay!

Good for you! Sometimes emergencies can bring things out in us that we didn't know we have.

If you have to ask, it's probably better posted at www.fratching.com

      DrFaroohk:

As a person who has Epilepsy, a big THANK YOU.

I am glad you kept your cool, called 911.

      tips to think about:
count how many seizures - you could see a break in between them.
      count how long one takes
notice the actions/ behavior - this will help the EMTs
promise me you'll never ever stick something in a person's mouth
promise me you'll never ever hold a person down or restrain forcefully

After a seizure, it's called "post - ictal state" and its a time where your piston's arent firing at all. Imagine the worst headcold along with a hangover after a stroke and you'll get some idea on how we TRY to function. Different areas of the brain are affected (depending on the epilepsy/seizures) and so different effects will show : belligerance, speech problems, sleepy, motor / balance issues....just to name a few.

It's good you called the cops/ ambulance. Let's hope she's better today!

I'm not even sure what her big issue was actually...she was sort of spazzing out in her car, but she looked and acted like someone who had overdosed and she's a bit of a junkie. Except I don't know if you can just "snap out" of an overdose like she did, unless she just got some major adrenaline rush right there.

Ah well, either way she'll be fine. I believe one of the EMT's mentioned that it was "drug induced", but they tend to gossip and BS a bit sometimes. I expect she's either out and about by now or, if they found anything on her, in jail. Overall I'm pleased with the way we all handled it.
