  • Success! (long ramble sorry)

Well I had my first day today, was actually really good, I couldnt sleep last night for more than 10-15 minutes at a time but I got a bagel and coffee on the way to work which perked me right up.

All of my coworkers are nice (Im in a training class of 7 including me) and we train together for 5 weeks. Apart from on bright spark who proclaimed that she only thought "jury duty" only happened in America... they are all very cool and nice, no snotty people either.

If I make it through my 3 month probabtion, and my stats are good enough they want to get me a posistion off the phones and in their mentoring position so I would be helping new trainees on their first 5 days actually taking calls.... discussing how the call went, any problems they had, listening to the calls with them and coaching them if they get stuck etc (yay finally having a BA helps me with something!!!!!) they have a fast track with recent graduates with extra training in their area of prefrence (HR or recruitment or management etc.)

the breaks are good, the office is really nice (no more cockroaches for me!), and they allow me to choose to work 10 hours 4 days a week or 8 hours 5 days a week with sundays off and 2 consecutative days off each week instead of a split week.... yay 3 day weekend.

but I've saved the best for last! They actually acknowledge that sucky customers exist!! We had our team leader say " Im not going to lie to you, csr work is not all roses and lollipops, you will get rude, cranky, upset people" I was like that they were so honest, every other place Ive worked for, has pretended that customers are always these perfect creatures incapable of setting a foot wrong.

Not only that but I get TRAINING on how to deal with a customer who just doesnt want to be satisfied! Hehehe I glanced at the reasons behind a "difficult" customer and one of the reasons was "may have little or no power in their own life"

AHMEN TO THAT, the actually admit that some customers are just assholes on a power trip.

I really think Im going to like this job guys Im so happy and relieved!! I could actually see myself gaining a career with them. How that pans out may be a different story, but hey at least I got my hope back!

Sorry, I dont want to sound smug, but I really worked my ass off during school and was pretty despondant that it wasnt even looking like it was ever going to pay off, I thought I was doomed to forever dreading work. Im not and thats SUCH a big lift for me. See that cloud, its called nine and Im on it.
