We got our end of last year reviews finalized and approved today*. My supervisor came over to make sure I'd signed off on mine and to let me know how proud she was of me, and how great I've done this year. When they submit the forms, they "rank" us in one of 4 categories - 20% fall under Needs Improvement, 60% under Good, 10% under Excellent, and apparently (though I don't know anyone who ever has "acheived" this) there are 10% of all employees ranked Exceptional. Last year I was "Good" which isn't terrible, but this year I am "Excellent," which I feel is very much deserved.
I also had a nice list of compliments from my sup in my review, talking about my dedication, knowledge, and general awesomeness.
It's nice to be recognized once in a while for all I do - all the OT, the flexibility with scheduling, the mentoring, and all the favors I do helping out the other teams.
*It's a big process that requires us to submit the rankings we believe we deserve in about 10 categories, dialogue with our supervisor, supervisor submitting his/her rankings to corporate, approval by corporate, approval by the supervisor, and finally me signing off to say all of the above occurred as it should have, and I agree with the results.
