  • Going to be a projectionist

Back in October I applied for an admin job at the cinema but didn't get it. The GM was obviously impressed with my CV and interview and said if he had anything else he'd offer it to me. A few weeks later he mentioned there might be an additional part time projectioinst job going, then nothing...

Just after Christmas, I was told the job was going to be available, he'd see about giving to me without advertising it. So I've been up in the projection area during a couple of quiet shifts, and I've been to see the chief projectionist and now I get to train. I just have to sort out hours once the GM gets back from holiday next week!

Congratulations! Of course, one of the nicest things about Projection is that if something goes wrong with a show, you get to stay in the booth and fix it while everyone else has to deal with the customers.

Fuckin sweet! I know this is late, but congrats.

Being a projectionist, then projection manager, was literally the best job I've ever had in my life. I absolutely love it, but with a son and a mortgage, I have to have a higher paying job.

I miss building movies, threading and even the inevitable trailer changes. If I could get paid $20/hr to do it, I would quit my job INSTANTLY, but that'd never happen.

If you ever need advice, PM me. I know almost everything about film.
