  • Free Cisco certifications

Just recently I found that my company will pay for Cisco certifications. Looks like they even offer free live virtual classes over the internet and free self-study courses where you can work at your own pace. I even have access to current books for the various certifications too.

Soon I am going to be so overqualified it will be very easy for me to leave tech hell(tech support). I have a long list of Cisco certifications I am going t be working on. Time to get as many certifications as I can and have the corporation pay for them.

I've worked for companies that would provide such benefits, but came with a price. If you left the company too soon after getting certified, you would owe them the cost of those certifications.

Just be careful not to owe them several thousand dollars, okay?

My university offers one Cisco course to undergrads for $150. The usual price is around $5,000. The best part is graduates can still do it for the cheap price within 3 yars of graduating.

I'm already checking on that. I do know that they have a policy like that if you get a college degree and they pay for it. Basically you ned to stay there for a year after graduating.

If they do have such policies for certifications then I'm going to just pay for the tests myself while using the free self-pace courses.

        UPDATE:

I found the official policy and there are no provisions that state that I have to stay with the company for a certain amount of time if they pay for the certification tests. There is if I go to an accredited school, sign up for such classes and they pay for those. Also they will pay for 2 attempts on each test pass or fail. Looks like the official policy is in my favor for getting certified.
