In July of last year, I gave 1 month notice at my place of employment. I was the distribution supervisor for domestic freight at a company that specialised in moving medical goods... very time and temperature senstive materials.... to put a long story short, I was tired of the stress and crying myself to sleep at night, so my boyfriend and I agreed that I would quit and try my own thing working from home...
First bragging right.. they asked me to stay on an extra month because they couldn't find a replacement for me..
2nd bragging right.. they hired 2 people to replace me!
Cut to 6 months later, and I hear on the grapevine that they have sacked one of the people they hired, the one who had taken on my supervisory role... right then I knew something was up.. A week later and the general manager of the entire company (this is a global company, she is the GM for all of Australia)... was on my phone asking to come to my house for a chat.. that's right, the company GM came to my house and lo and behold, asked me to come back.
In the end I was able to negotiate more money, and I only have to work 4 days a week! YAY for me!! I have more help in my department, better equipment now.. they have admitted that they made a mistake in letting me go, and that they handled the whole department wrong(as we are basically the heart and brain of the operation but were given barely any resources to run it..).. I am bringing home more money now working 32-36 hours a week than I was working 50+ a week, as before I was supposed to work 9-5.30 but barely ever made it out before 7-7.30pm... 9.30pm wasn't unheard of! LOL!!!
To top it all off, I have overheard management telling unhappy clients that they are hoping that CS will improve and everything will be a lot more communicative and basically smoother now that I am back! That's right, I actually heard the GM tell one of our major clients, "yes I understand your problem, but now that Beck is back, we don't foresee that being an issue any longer!"
Talk about boosting my ego, I don't know how I am going to fit through a doorway with this kind of talk going around lol!! but again I say YAY for me!
Funniest part is, I am pretty sure people in our other offices are slightly miffed that I am back because it is part of my role to ensure that they are doing their jobs also, and I have no problem cracking the whip.. I think they were used to getting away with murder, but in my first week I have already told off three members in 2 states lol!!! It's fun to be me!
