At this morning's monthly meeting, my boss nominated me for outstanding team member. Everyone has to vote for a winner, anybody can nominate anybody except for themselves.
Seeing as I've been in this department for less than 2 months, and until this morning was still considered a new hire (you have to be voted on as a permanent employee, which happened today too), I was surprised when my boss announced that I got OTM for the month. Even though I've been with the company for over a year and a half, you still have to go through the new hire voting process anytime you transfer departments (this is my third time going through the process).
It's extremely rare for a "new" person to get OTM (Outstanding Team Member) or OGS (Outstanding Guest Service).
OTM and OGS get $25 gift cards when it's at the department level, $50 when it's at the store level. We only had a department meeting this morning, no store meeting. I've gotten OGS before in another department, but not as a new hire.
The $25 is gone already - blown on lunch, my favorite energy drink (which is on sale right now, $1.67, down from $1.99), habanero cheddar, and sandwich fixins.
I've also had 4 reviews in the new position, and all of them have been glowing. Maybe I can talk them out of a little more money soon.
