Had inventory last Sunday. A few days before, deep into organization, and all the other crap that goes into prepping for inventory on top of all other store operations - boss is quizzing me on all that's been done.
He wanted me to take charge of everything and run it like he wasn't going to be there. I've done dozens and dozens of inventories in past jobs - but me being new I have to prove myself again.
So he wrote a list of things that needed to be checked, cleaned, pre-counted, fixed - anything you can think of for inventory prep. After reading off every one, I replied "Already done" or "Almost done". There wasn't anything I had missed and there were some things I already took care of that he didn't think of.
After going through the list - he sat down, looked at me and said: "Luna, it's going to be a sad sad day when you get your own store, and I will be so happy for you - but I think you'll see a grown man cry that day."
Then there was some awkward silence...but damn that made me smile. I am *NOT* used to being complimented at all - at least not the bait & switch compliment where they say something nice and them ream you out with the next statement.
