I'm so excited about my new job, which officially starts Monday. I went back to work 11 months ago and it's really paid off for me.
for the following reasons:
- I am moving from part-time to full-time status (even though I've worked full-time hours since April of last year).
- Benefits and vacation time. I'm pretty much the only one who had to work over the holidays if I didn't want to lose money on my paycheck.
- A raise - w00t! My boss is still putting together my pay plan but at a minimum I'll be making $8 more an hour.
- *Gulp* I'm the boss? This one actually makes me a little nervous. It's my first "management" position so to speak. Luckily I get to start off small, with 2 people working for me for about a month, and then 6-8 after that as the project grows.
- I still get to work from home most of the time. It's really important to me that I'm home with my kids as much as possible, luckily that won't change with the exception of...
- Travel! My new project is Global so I'll be briefly visiting all sorts of nifty places in the next couple of years. First stop...Australia! The other places on the list are Japan, Brussels, Poland, Canada, and possibly Tel Aviv. This is really exciting for me because I've been a bit sheltered. It's the first time I've gone more than a few states away, let alone acoss the globe.
Ok, that's it, all of the reasons I
my new job. Now I just have to grow a backbone so I can manage people...eek!
