Well had a kick ass night.
Weve been on shut down for a week...lots of hosing up stuff, locking out machinery while its fixed. The paper makers are ahead of the game, so we had NOTHING to do tonight haha. Lately as a bit of a pick me up for the crew and something to laugh about ive been wearing the worst Hawaiian style shirts you can imagine. The brightest gaudiest patterns ever...i already have a mohawk so what the hell, i get goofy...anyways.
Tonight our supervisor gives us about an hours woth of work to last about 12 hours....so for 8 hours tonight i was cruising around the whole top floor of the mill, wearing a bright ass hawaiian shirt with a cup of coffee in one hand, driving a mini street sweeper type machine all over....for $40 an hour haha. The last hour or so i spent painting random things then got to leave 30 paid mins early.
Then super calls me on the way home and asks me to work the monday of July 2nd...a stat. Now since we work 34 hours a week, every 6 weeks we get an Averaging Day Off (ADO) our ADO is scheduled for us, and mine falls on the stat...since a few guys took it off i get to work.
So on top of my laughter filled lazy shift tonight, the monday of the seoncd i make about $1100, plus an extra 2 hours call in for my ADO, plus 12 hours in the bank to take as paid time off, plus itll put me enough over that the saturday/sunday night shifts will count as OT. with the sunday being double time..also getting me about 12 hours in the bank. July second ill be making about $120 an hour lol.
So to recap, slack ass awesome shift, and now im gonna have about an extra $2500-3000 on my check after the holiday all because the guy above me on the list said no to coming in, and i found out ill be doing a job that requires me to work about once an hour for 15 mins, with lots of nap time lol. As a bonus my supervisor told me he would give me our shirt call bonus (doesnt apply but he was looking to reward me for some of the work ive been doing) so i get to order 3 pizzas a bunch of pop, cheese cakes and salads for the crew.
For all the shit days, it sure is nice to hit this kind of lucky streak.
