So I hurt my rotator cuff last September, while hauling boxes from the store near my house to the one where I work. (We'd run out of folders during back to school. Not good for an "office supply store.")
Manager on duty claims she put it through as Worker's Comp. She didn't. She kept claiming that I was faking. 9.9 Thankfully, everyone's been billing it through my regular insurance or giving me cash discounts for the various scans.
Anyway, that's NOT what I'm venting about. I've been going to the same medical group since I was 4, they've been seeing my family since the 60s. I saw one of my regular doctors, C, who diagnosed it as a probable strain, and not a full tear. He put me on T3s (Percocet and Vicodin make me puke) and sent me home with a work note for a day or so. He also gave me a referral for an X-Ray to make sure there was no bone impingement. (Thankfully there wasn't.)
Two days later, the pain was so bad I was literally screaming while just playing on my computer. I went back to the doctor's office, but C was busy, so I saw Aq, the newest doctor. I was still in tears, and she jerked my arm around to see my reactions. She told me that she wanted me to take Percocet, and then snapped that throwing up was a normal side effect.
She then tried to insist, with threats that I could cause a full tear if I disobeyed, that I take 2 weeks off of work. NOT going to happen, (by then I knew about my manager telling everyone I was faking, though NOT about the claim not being submitted, and was afraid of getting in trouble for not showing up) and I told her so, slightly panicked with her demeanor. I eventually got out of there, and left. I have Asperger's, panic attacks are NO FUN.
A few days later, having taken off as many days as I could, I went in for my followup with C. I mentioned my experience with Aq, and he seemed surprised, and told me to request not to see her anymore. He gave me some exercises to do as PT when the pain lessened, then gave me the paperwork I needed to submit for Workman's Comp. After I left, I read it.
C's reports were factual, to the point, and definitely pointed to a repetitive work related injury. Aq's report, in the middle, glossed over her findings, but made VERY sure to claim that I had been "unprofessional," "hysterical," "overreacting," and "cursed." I definitely don't remember cursing, through the rest was certainly because I was in AGONY.Who the heck is "professional" when feeling as if their entire shoulder is ON FIRE?!
I haven't been back to see her since. I've got appointments with D, a third doctor who's treated me since I was little, for my chronic conditions, once he gets back from medical leave. Until then I'm seeing K for those. (The IBS has been getting worse, as has the arthritis.) C is still one of my favorites for more immediate problems. It's gotten t be a big practice (I think they're up to 16 practitioners), and I've worked with every doctor, PA, and nurse at least once, so I don't HAVE to be seen by anyone I don't want.
I love my doctors, but Aq REALLY needs to get over herself. Apparently she's fresh out of med school, so the practice was happy they'd snapped her up. D is one of the heads of the practice, and I gave C permission to talk to him about what happened, so there's no need for a more formal report.
As for the shoulder, I'm back to doing archery, though I did strain it a bit recently playing Wii bowling. If it gets too bad with the archery, well, I did teach myself to be ambidextrous!
My bow is thankfully set up for righties or lefties. Something to be said for a good historical recurve. (20lbs, for the curious. I'll eventually go back to my 35 pounder.) I figure this counts as resistance training.
