About 16 years ago, I did the Phen-fen diet and lost close to 100 lbs. When I stopped that, I put almost all of it back on. I then re-lost about 50, put it, and more, back on, and about a year ago re-lost about 75. I'm still about 230-ish.

I'm not in the least surprised about the fatty liver, now that I know that rapid weight loss causes it. And they want me to lose more--I'm stable where I am. When my body is ready, it'll let me know.

I no longer eat as poorly as I once did. Given a choice, I choose protein and veggies over sweets and processed carbs. I do need to get in more exercise, but I'm still recuperating from when the 18-wheeler ran over me, so that's going to be a slow process.
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

I think when an 18 wheeler runs your ass over, you have the right to have your body be out of whack for a while.

I'd be eating like a pig for a while in thanks that I still had a stomach after that.

Here is another idea, don't ask a woman if she is being hurt by someone at home if the person you suspect might be hurting them is in the room. No one in my house is hurting me, but what if I was one of those getting the holy hell beat out of them, why ask when the guy is sitting right there?
They HAVE to ask this question, it's a JCAHO requirement, even when asking the question doesn't make any sense. Every patient, male or female, is supposed to be asked this.

I hate this requirement; it makes it just another rote question asked to tick a check on a box.

if I really think abuse has gone on, I WON'T ask that question if the suspected abuser is in the room. I'll contrive a reason to get the patient alone, THEN ask.

I had my follow up with the gastro on Tuesday.

He did not seem to be too concerned about anything.

The cyst that is in my liver is a hemangioma, so he sees no reason to biopsy it, especially since it hasn't changed in 5 years.

He did give me a prescription for epigastric spasms, for when the pain gets bad, but believes it's mostly due to stress.

He didn't say anything about the fatty liver besides that it's there, and I got no lecture to lose weight, which I know I need to do anyway.

If the doc doesn't seem worried, I'm not gonna worry much.

Well, since you know you need to lose weight, you no longer have an excuse

Seriously though, if you decide to lose weight just be careful and keep your doc in the loop. Losing weight might reduce the symptoms.

Just curious; what med did he prescribe? Bentyl?
