The last time I saw a podiatrist for some severe foot pain (plantar fascitis according to her) she wanted to do cortisone injections.

One of my coworkers would get that for her shoulder sometimes... The military-funded doctor who originally worked on it screwed it up. Until she got it re-operated on, she'd get injections once in a while.


However ... doing so without permission? WTF.

"Nice" doesn't mean legal. He's probably gotten use to skirting the laws because he seems "nice" so people brush it off. So he continues as he wants...

Yeah, if you do report the doctor (which, as I've already said, I highly encourage, to hell with whatever nonsense your mother is saying) you should probably report the nurse too. It's entirely possible that she might not even know any better, if she's been working with the doctor for a while and his in-office rules are "Oh, just come on in whenever to ask me questions about stuff" with no regard to HIPAA laws. But if that's the case, she needs to be retrained so she knows that's not acceptable.

I am also not in the medical field because if I was I would work with the dead since they are easier to deal with. I wouldn't want him around my pet (if I had one) let alone around me or my family. What kind of doctor just jams a needle into a patient without asking? I don't give a crap if he is the last nice man in the world, he broke HIPAA and treated you like you as the patient, just didn't matter to him. He sounds like the kind of doctor that if you tell him you are going to report him he would say he is the one who went to medical school not you.

I had a physicians assistance wrote up for walking into my room two days after my surgery and just ripping my brace off without warning and had me so close to tears I was getting shortness of breath from trying not to cry.

We have to take a stand that we, as the patients do have feelings and do matter. We are not there to give ego boosts to those who should never be anywhere near a medical school.
