  • Help?

I'm so sick and I have no idea what's wrong. I went to my doctor, but he's one of those kinds of doctors that just hands me a bunch of scripts and sends me on my merry way. Half the time, I have to ask him a ton of questions or I don't have a CLUE what's going on.

I posted in the SC thread about some of the issues I'm having and I figured going to the doctor would help. I'm still wheezing occasionally, passing out more than normal (I have lowish blood pressure and OH), and I'm vomiting. I also feel like I'm constantly prepped for fight or flight. My blood pressure has been higher than normal and I'm fxcking miserable.

Any ideas? I don't want to go back to my doctor, because he's just going to shove four or five more prescriptions in my hands instead of helping me.

Well, I think you know what the most obvious answer is. Find another doctor.

There are three...four? doctors in that practice, I just wind up getting the same one. He's great if you're in pain, but for anything else.

Then, when you see that he's going to be your doc, ask for another one. If they say no, then explain that it's of no help what he's doing, and if they still don't bend, complain to the medical board. Make sure that they understand your symptoms too... it does sound serious.
Make sure you're taking it easy-- my understanding is that for many health issues, stress makes things worse. Take care of yourself, too.
EDIT: do NOT be shy about literally walking out on an appointment, even one that's in progress. Doctors are supposed to help!

I'm going to try to set up an appointment with my ACTUAL PCP instead of prescription guy.

The symptom set does sound serious: you DO need to see a doctor who cares.

Complain to the manager or owner of the practice as well - but after you've seen your proper doctor, and (if you prefer) anonymously.

And consider complaining to the appropriate medical authority in your state. IMO - and I'm not a doctor - that symptom set is screaming for proper investigation, not treating the symptoms individually with cover-up meds!

(Repeat: I'm not a doctor. Maybe this doctor does have some idea of what's going on and the scripts are supposed to help: but in that case, his/her patient care needs a lot of work: you should be able to explain at least vaguely what is wrong with you and what each med is supposed to do to help!)

.... I could make some guesses about some sections of your symptoms individually, but honestly, you'd be wayyyy better off seeing a good doctor who can examine you and listen to you.

            1. Would you rather be right, or get the result you want?
            2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
            3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
            4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

So why are you with the same practice? With most insurance companies a phone call to customer service is enough to change your PCP.

My sympathies, WoodenSunshine, but as mentioned many times before, this is not the place to ask for medical advice. I am closing this thread.
