I'm allergic to Demerol, Morphine and Toradol. What they like to give me for the access and post surgery pain is Dilaudid.

On the abscess, I've been fighting the infection that is causing them for three years It's called MRSA and it can be very hard to kill.

Ugh, I am right there with you. I am so sick of the sudden golf ball or even baseball size boils that have to get cut open and drained. I got it from the daycare I worked at 2 years ago. My daughter also got it as well. It was horrible for her because the first place she got it was her privates. She was fine when she went to bed and then she woke up screaming at about 3 AM and she was swollen to the size of an egg. I rushed her to childrens and they immediatly took her into surgery so they could drain it and had to remove some tissue around it as well. Evidently it had been there for a few days but was deep in the skin and then all of a sudden blew up. We were in her room for 3 days in the hospital with a neon pink sign on her door saying we were quarantined. I couldn't go in and out of her room and the Ronald Mcdonald house dropped off food at the door for me. I got it shortly after and it has been HELL!!! We both get one occasionally and thank God my sons or husband have not gotten it yet. They give us Bactrim after they cut us open and stuff us with gauze and then tylenol with codeine for the pain. Luckily it takes longer and longer between breakouts now so I am hoping it is going away.

I've had quite a few abscesses on my 'taint.. After I had 3 large abscesses removed from my hips and thighs, I had to have a PICC line put in and administer Vancomycin at home (I'm allergic to Sulfa drugs and Bactrim is Sulfa based and Clindimycin wasn't helping)..

When do most people figure out that nurses/whoever can't 'care' about the crisis if they are to aid in it?

They have to be non-emotional Vulcans first. They have to keep their cool. And then after have their emotions flood out all at once, like Lewis and Seshat said.
