The tech at <home location> took a couple days off so I filled in for him. When he called on Wednesday to tell me my Thursday schedule, he said he'd already ordered tracers for when he comes back Monday. All I have to do is check for add-ons.
Fast forward to today and Monday's schedule has an add-on. No problem, I'll call the pharmacy and order the tracer I need. Except I wasn't positive it hadn't been there before. So I went to look for the copy of the schedule M printed out Wednesday. Either he didn't actually print one out, or it's long shredded. I got this nagging voice in my head telling me to call and double check his order and then add what I need to.
Good thing I listened.
The pharmacy has no record of M's order for Monday. None. No handwritten order in the future orders box, no computer record, nothing. I shudder to think of the mess M would have walked into Monday morning with patients to scan and no tracers. And it would have been my fault since I was the last tech on duty. I don't doubt he ordered stuff for Monday. Different techs have different preferences and we all tend to want to order our own stuff. I have no clue what happened from there, though. The pharmacy's usually pretty good about not making mistakes (in the 4 years I've been doing this, I've only known of one slip-up). I'm just glad I listened to that nagging voice in my head.
