Got a letter in the mail that just pissed me off royally.
My mother was in the hospital most of last week, with a severe UTI. She also was . . . finally . . . diagnosed with Alzheimer's. My brother and I have been contending with her memory problems for over two years now. Her illness finally allowed us to place her on a Memory Care Unit where she can be properly looked after.
That's not what has me pissed. I'm actually relieved about putting her in a facility where she is no longer a danger to herself. She's adjusting well and starting to make friends with the other residents.
No, I'm pissed at the hospitalist. A hospitalist is a hospital employed doctor that sees you instead of your family doctor when you're in the hospital.
My employer requires FMLA paperwork if you are out more than 3 days. Because making all the arrangements for Mom was so time consuming, I kept missing the doc. Finally, I left the paper work with the social worker, who promised to get it filled out and would mail it back to me.
I just got it in the mail today. The doc refused to fill it out saying it was not an FMLA even. She wrote me a "note" excusing me from work.
Lazy bitch . . . that's not what my employer wants. They're not going to accept this note in place of the FMLA paperwork they require . . . and I will have to miss more work later on to deal with the consequences from placing my mother. You don't just place someone and walk away . . . they have entire lives that have to be wrapped up and taken care of. It is a TON of work.
I'm going to have to call the hospital administrator in the morning and complain. Sucky or not, I'm going to insist this lazy bitch do her job and fill out the damn form.
