  • Can't it be over yet?

Saw the urologist today. I'd say all in all it was a good visit. He showed me my ct scan and where the stone is, It's farther along than I thought it was when they took the scan, which must mean it is close to the bladder now as the pain moved since I went to the ER. When I went to the ER the pain was in my kidney, now its in my lower abdomen.
Doc gave it a 85% chance to pass, that also means there's a 15% chance it won't pass. So we scheduled a procedure for Weds to go in and cut it in half, dig it out, and put in a stint if it doesn't pass by then.
He refilled my prescriptions so I will have enough of the medications to last me till surgery and post-op as well.
I just want this to be done and over with!

Well the stone passed. I was unable to catch it for analysis. I have like 4 stones just waiting in my left kidney they were hoping to find out what was causing my stones to see if maybe they could dissolve my stones through medication or I needed to change my diet.
Now to call the doctor tomorrow and tell them to cancel the procedure.

Are you sure? Did you feel it pass when you urinated? Or did the pain just stop.

Sometimes a stone, or pieces of one, will sit in the bladder for quite some time. I would continue to strain my urine for a few more days to see if you catch something.

I had a stone sit in my bladder for two weeks once. It only bothered me occassionally before it finally passed.

But I'm glad you don't have to go through the procedure. If it had been me, with an 85% chance of passing it on my own, I'd have waited unless I had hydronephrosis (water on the kidney) from urine backing up in the system to see if the stone passed on its own.

Once you pass these other four stones you may never have another . . . that's the good news.

Or you may have them intermittantly. That's the bad

I had them chronically for about 20 years, and have (for some reason) been stone free for about 3 or 4 years.

No, I didn't feel it pass and I got a piece about the size of a grain of sand in the strainer, but when I tried to get it out to put it in the container it broke apart and there was nothing.
