    IUD's can sometimes lead to pelvic inflammatory disease or a ruptured uterus and result in infertility. This is a risk that must be clearly explained to any patient considering one.
    My GP (male) actually just brought it up on his own when I mentioned I wanted to get on something but was even nervous about remembering to keep up to date with purchasing the Nuva Rings when I was on it. In fact I stopped being on it when I ran through the first 3 they gave me. I've never had kids nor has he asked me if I plan to but since I don't plan to, I'm not too worried about it. I'm supposed to actually go in on the 6th to meet with a ob/gyn to get this set up. I'm just glad I didn't have to fight him on it since that's what I already was interested in anyway.
