*sigh* some days, I miss the quiet of dispatching tow trucks.
Over the weekend, our kiddos got a little restless due to the holiday schedule and, well, the fact that they're locked up. At least during most of the week, they're in school (the classrooms are also inside the facility) and there's a little more structure.
Things got hairy on Friday when a fight broke out that broke my heart to see. One of our more mouthy youths was running his mouth as usual and one of our new kids just handed the mouthy one a serious ass kicking. I was in another room looking in and saw the other staff just stand there waiting for more assistance to arrive. Those are hairy situations - do you get in the middle of them? We're trained for stuff like that but when there's two youths and pulling one off means the other will then attack...you just have to wait for more help.
On some level, this kid got what he deserved. The sad thing, he won't learn his lesson.
This event came after the event that I dealt with first hand. Another kid got bored, then got angry and decided to tear ceiling tiles out of the ceiling and break them apart.
My previous job - it was so hard to stay awake sometimes - this one - never a dull moment!
