  • Oh dear...

Just thought this would amuse people...

(And as I'm always so spazzy about topics involving PAP/cervical smears lol, this one's a bit lighthearted).

I have a good online friend who is a fully-transitioned male-to-female transexual. She's gorgeous, and lovely, and I really admire her.

A little while back she said she recieved an "invite" to go and have a PAP smear by her doctor...

I guess the surgery was very convincing

I bet she was thrilled to hear that!

I think she was a combination of annoyed, perplexed and flattered all at once!

She ought to go and see how long it takes before they catch on.

OOOH I wish I had thought to suggest that to her! She's got a good sense of humour, I can imagine her doing it XD

"Ohh...there's no cervix? How odd...I guess they forgot to put one in!" XD

Honest question: would her insurance cover that exam?

LRR is in the UK; apologies if I'm wrong, but if her matey is in the UK also then cervical smears are covered by the NHS. At least IIRC every woman in the UK gets said invitation to arrange for one. I got my invitation not too long ago, but in speaking to my doctor about it she said I wouldn't really need one until I can't claim virginity any more...

A mate of mine is female-to-male, though I think still pre-op. Wonder if he gets letters? O.o

Actually, my friend is American, but yes I am from the UK My friend was annoyed mainly because it meant that her doctor had obviously not looked at her records correctly...she is legally female so it seems that he just scanned her notes, and didn't look into closer details. But she couldn't help being amused and flattered too XD

Thinking about it, I'm sure her insurance probably wouldn't have covered it, so thats probably why she didn't play a prank on him...his face probably would have been gold, but it would have been one expensive prank!

SongsofDragons, I'm likely to get my invite this year, booo! Sadly I can't play the virginity card XD I remeber when we were first told in sex ed that virgins don't have to have it done, I was convincing myself I'd never have sex just to get around it

IIRC you can't play the virginity card forever! Once you reach a certain age, virgin or not, you should start having regular pap smears. Losing your virginity just speeds the process along!

Here in Oz I think it's as young as 18 or 2 years after you first have sex, whichever comes first. But then you only have to get one every 2 years if all results are normal and there's no medical history that would require testing more often.
