  • My irritating foot -- update

So I told you all about the dr appt I had a while back, when I told her about my foot, the one that has a cyst in it. I followed her instructions to do the ace bandage thing and I've also been using that plantar fasctietis (however the heck you spell that lol) brace to wear in bed (still keeps me from getting pain at night yay).

So finally I get to see a foot dr. Who has the same exact thing on his foot in the exact same place only it's bigger . He's had it for 4 years and is just living with it. So I can do that or go get an mri done and probably surgery. Both of which sound expensive not to mention I can't afford to be laid up for god knows how long. So for now I live with it. . And it's starting to sound like it might never go away on it's own.

If the doctor has it, and isn't bothering to treat it....that's probably not a good sign for you. Sorry. That sucks.

It's one of those things that is more annoying than anything. I've managed to learn how not to move so that I don't cause myself a ton of pain anymore. If I can get enough money together I'll do the mri and surgery...just don't anticipate getting the money together anytime soon.

Like, a liquid filled cyst? I had one on my back that got infected. If it's anything like mine, it definitely won't go away and will only get worse. I'd recommend taking a bit of vacation time and having it seen to, if you have paid vacation.

IT's a cyst, unknown right now if it's liquid or solid, that's what the mri would determine I believe. I have vacation time, that's not an issue. What I don't have is that extra 20 percent that the insurance doesn't cover. On surgery that can get spendy, even a couple of hundred bucks is an issue right now.

I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV or anywhere else.

It sounds like a ganglion cyst. DH has one on his foot. His has been drained a few times, but the doc says that even surgery is not a guarantee that it will not recur, so he just lives with it, and gets it drained when it gets really bad. The stuff inside is about the consistency of silicone caulking.
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

yup ganglion cyst is correct. I wish I didn't have to live with it, who knew these things could hurt so bad

Those are neat. When they don't hurt. Sometimes they're called Bible Cysts, because an old home remedy was to whack those things with a bible (heavy book) and pop it.

They can be drained with a needle. (by a doctor) Insert needle into cyst, withdraw goop, cover it back up, and that's it. Until it needs another clean out.
