I went in to the hospital today for the Essure procedure, which is a non-surgical permanent sterilization procedure. I was in the pre-surgery/recovery room and the nurse was going over my paperwork with me. She said "I see you're having a tubal ligation and Essure." I went And told her no, I was just having Essure done. She was insistent that the paperwork said I was having both and I told her no, I'm not having a tubal done. She then went to my gyno to tell her I changed my mind and I didn't want the tubal!!!

My gyno came over to ask me if I'd changed my mind and I told her I definitely had not, and what the nurse had told me. My gyno went and said "No the paperwork says tubal ligation WITH Essure, not and Essure."

I'd nearly had a heartattack thinking I wasn't going to be able to have the procedure done when my first nurse went off to talk to the gyno. But, I had it... I'm home, and very very happy.

I'd call it a failure in terminology; "ligation" means to tie or bind. The Essure product uses none of that.

Essure is non-surgical permanent sterilization. Basically they go up through your vagina and insert metal coils into your fallopian tubes, which scare over and block up the tubes so you can't get pregnant.

It's nice because of it being non-surgical, I was down for pretty much the rest Wednesday with some pretty hellacious cramps, but woke up today feeling 100%. If I'd had a tubal, I'd of been down for at least through the weekend if not longer.

I was fine as soon as the anesthesia wore off from my tubal, though I did need to change my two band-aids.
Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes

My hysterectomy had less pain than my tubal.
