Pain Will Not Kill You

I am one of those who is a wuss about getting blood taken.

Whenever I needed to go back into hospital for whatever reason, I took my iPod with me and played it while the nurses took my blood. Worked a charm. I could still feel the stick, but I wasn't crying and just focused on the music. Same deal with getting blood taken at the pathologist lab and/or seeing the nurse on-campus. (she is awesome )

I also do the same at the dentists. Works a charm while they're doing their work.

My sister and I have both had no problems with getting our shots though.

you do not mess around with painkillers. My friend passed away due to an accidental overdose of painkillers.

She had a condition that caused extreme pain and she slowly built up a resistance to the pain killers having to take more and more to have an effect, you can probably tell where this is going.

They are not something to mess around with at all.

I wish physicians would make home pain meds round the clock rather than prn.

Mine has prescribed extended release tramadol every 24hrs, plus the psychoactives that affect the pain system in fibro patients, some every 24 hrs, others every 12.

I do have 'breakthrough pain' meds; for such circumstances as unusually bad days, or the week I had shingles.
