  • Poor thing

My best friend has gone blind again. The doctors are debating whether she has MS because she has a lot of the symptoms, but the lesions on her eye they found could either prove she has MS or be caused by the optic neuritis she had when she went blind the first time 18 years ago. So they are giving her steroids. Problem is steroids send her into psychosis. I've taken many calls some her crying, some talking her out of conspiracy theories about doctors hating her, spent time in the ER with her, and talked the doctors out of restraining her because she seriously freaks when restrained and it would make matters SO MUCH worse. I won't divulge why they were going to restrain her. They did try to send her to the psych ward for the psychosis, but she has a medical condition that they can't handle there, at all, so they wouldn't take her.
She just can't get a break.

Then to top it off when she's applying to get her blind benefits back her eye doctor who she saw for the blindness send in her chart from 6 months ago where she had 20/40 vision, so she had to go to Sears and have another eye exam to send in and they wrote down "Can't see chart." That doctor got some hate mail, then she told the network he is to no longer have access to her charts.(the hospital and clinics are all linked together in this network, so if you see only doctors in this network any of the doctors can access your charts from the other doctors on the computer.)

I'm a bit confused by this part. What did the doctor do again?

The doctor instead of sending in the chart saying she can't see the eye chart sent in the chart from 6 months ago when her vision was 20/40.

Ugh. Wish I had some advice.
"Is it hot in here to you? It's very warm, isn't it?"--Nero, probably

Ack! OK, now I get it. Oh, Lord. I hope they got that straightened out.

          How's she doing?

Well she's doing better, as in no longer has psychosis, but still blind. Looks like she's moving back to TX where they have specialists to deal with her issues Jan 31st.
