    My father/boss. That is all.

Some of you may recall my Marina Chronicles post in general work chat, where it was the day from hell. One of the biggest features of that day was a jetskii catching on fire while my father/boss was on it. (He was putting spark-plugs in it and it was vapor-locked.)

He didn't go to the doctor.

He got the last of my vicodin from my jaw surgery, and some painkillers from my uncle leftover from my uncles surgery, and considered that to be good enough.

Now he's complaining about how the weather is making his leg ache, and theorizes he broke his leg when he fell off a ladder.

Which he didn't go to the doctor for. Or even slow down working. He mentioned his leg hurt a lot, and had a prominent limp, but I think he just took some more of the not-yet-thrown-away-heavy-duty-painkillers that the family had around and left it at that. (Note: Do not endorse this. I know it isn't legal, and I'm not endorsing it, but between my jaw surgery, my uncle's recent surgery, my mother's migraines, my aunt's health problems, and my aunt's boyfriend's health problems, we had a lot of pain meds around that we no longer needed or weren't effective.)

I am so angry there are no words. 2nd degree burns and broken limbs you are supposed to go to a doctor for, dumb ass.

I actually had a broken leg, and I did walk on it, knowing I wasn't supposed to. (I also refused to do this therapy to re-strengthen my lungs after they got dislocated, which has screwed me over for life. I was a stupid kid.) So I can believe that he might have been able to walk on it.

    But either way...

The only Marina Chronicles I saw was from before Christmas (with the "soot on plate" stunt). Is that the one, or was there another?
Any fool can piss on the floor. It takes a talented SC to shit on the ceiling.

He can still go to the doctor. If he has a limp, he should; he may have had a displaced fracture that didn't heal right.

He definitely should not be taking meds not prescribed to him. And there are better choices than Vicodin for the pain he has.
They say that God only gives us what we can handle. Apparently, God thinks I'm a bad ass.

I know. I can't exactly tell my father no, especially if he refuses to go to the doctor. As for Wolfie, I dug up the link. You're right, it wasn't called Marina Chronicles.

He doesn't seem to be complaining of anything but a dull ache right now, so I highly doubt he's still taking painkillers (even aspirin.)

          holy shit.

um if his leg was broken and he didn't get it treated... it's possible that it could heal wrong too.

and 2nd degree burns. yeah those can get infected.

Reminds me of my dad. He used to be an airline mechanic. He'd get cuts on his hands all the time, and they'd get dirty, as in grease- and fuel-covered. One time it got infected and he ended up with a blue streak running up his arm. He didn't even notice it, but Mom did. She forced him to go to the ER; she knew it was blood poisoning. The doc told him that if they'd waited even one more hour, it would've hit his heart and killed him. o.O

People who insist on not going to drs for really serious stuff bugs me. When I broke my arm a few years back there was no way I wasn't going to a dr. And getting my own good pain meds

But I'm curious, how do lungs dislocate?

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about that, Cooper. That must be frustrating as hell. He should definitely still go to the doctor, even if he thinks he's recuperating.

He sounds a little bit like my grandfather, who was big on self-treatment. I don't think he ever took somebody else's prescription medication, but he did tend to follow the "if some is good, more is better" school of thought when it came to OTCs.

Luckily he worked as a general fix-it guy for a medical centre, so if the doctors thought he needed medical attention, they'd call him in to "fix something" and then barricade him in an examining room until he agreed to be looked at.
