  • Owie!

So almost 2 weeks ago I had a tooth extracted, and then a week later, Monday went in for dentist to check on socket and possibly remove the sutures. Between the extraction and going back in the roof of my mouth developed a painful bump. Dentist did x-rays and said a root or bone chip from my jaw was the cause. So today I go in to have it removed. Turns out it was like a bone spur and it had decided to act up. She cut into the roof of my mouth and got out her drill thingy to detach it, then sutured me up. I have prescription mouth wash to rinse with and pain killers that take the edge off but I still hurt after taking them. Thank goodness when my best friend moved she dropped off her left over food and included was some slim fast. I don't see myself wanting to eat for a while.

Did they call it a torus? I have a big lump on one of my gums that is a torus, which is just a place where your bone keeps growing for some reason. My dentist specifically recommended I not do anything about it (unless it grows much larger and becomes disfiguring or obstructive) because the surgery is painful and most of the time it just grows back.

I don't know if this is the same thing because mine doesn't hurt at all.

No she didn't call it a torus. She said it looked like a bone spur and showed it to me after she removed it. Said she hadn't seen that before and if it hadn't started hurting we'd have never known about it and nothing would have needed to be done.
