They use dice.com, and I am watching that, Monster, and any others I can find.

They are already refusing to provide me proof it wasn't age discrimination. They did send me a list showing what happened on my team, and it shows the two oldest team members were the ones let go. Without further proof, I will be discussing age discrimination with an attorney.

They were also supposed to give all employees a year-end bonus with last week's paycheck. (Yes, for accounting reasons they wait three months.) I qualified for it, and was technically still an employment when it was disbursed. It wasn't included in my final paycheck, and it falls under the "must be received no later than 48 hours after the layoff. They went "oops" and I will get it tomorrow - 7 DAYS after the layoff. This one's not so serious, but also something to be discussed with an attorney.

What's with this latest trend in business to make layoffs as cold-hearted as possible?

(btw, as I don't want to be a thread-jacker, I may end up putting this in its own thread - depending on how the story progresses.)

Wow, this almost sounds like it isn't real, like I could imagine a sketch on Portlandia where a kiosk is sold a new crew comes in changes the sign and merchandise right there and it becomes something completely different while people are standing in line

when i worked at the telephone company i was employed by a labour hire agency but worked at the telco. about 2 weeks after i left i was told the contract ended with the labour hire agency and about 250 people were dismissed in one go.. made me glad i was gone.
The mere fact that we have the flamethrower means that someone, somewhere once said "You know, I'd really like to set those customers over there on fire, but don't possess the means to do it"

I've probably told this one before but,

a few jobs ago, the place I was working had two management people (a married couple), one supervisor, and four workers, including me. One Friday, us four went to lunch and when we came back the door was locked. We had to pound on it for a bit until the big boss came out and opened a crack. He says, "sorry, we're not doing this any more. Come back on Monday to get your check."

Then over the weekend he calls me and says he didn't mean me! (I didn't go back. Another guy who apparently he didn't mean either, did).
