I don't get it

That's something I've wondered about myself.....many's been the time when I've ordered something at (for example) a mall food court place, and been told by the cashier that they don't need my ID.

None of the places I go to ask for my ID, although they do ask to see my card to compare the signature. Now whether or not they ask me to sign the slip, depends on the place. Some places ask for signatures every single time. Other places only ask for signatures over a specific amount (usually $25).

But since my card is signed no one asks for my ID, unless I'm getting something that's aged-restricted.
