  • You are not to good to wait in line.

A couple of months I rented a video at block busters and never returned it. Last night I figured I should go and pay it off (at this point I had no intention of bringing it back, I know their return policy, it had already sold to my account)

So, I get there and they're pretty dead. There is only one cashier and one customer, so I go and stand by the 'form line here' sign. As the cashier finishes with the guy in front of me I step forward towards the register. Then this woman walks in and goes right up in front of me to the counter. My exchange with her went somthing like this:
    Me
    SW-stupid woman

Me: excuse me, I was next.
SW: I just have to pay a late fee *does the brush off movement with her hand*
Me: yeah, well, so do I, but I waited in line just like everyone else.

Then I gave her the death glare to let her know that she was NOT getting rung up before me. Thankfull, she backed off and went and stood in line.
Our brains are smarter than we think they am!

Way to go. It's good that you didn't let her get away with it.
Everything sucks. I must be living in a vacuum.

Good I'm glad you stood up for yourself. My customers piss me off sometimes because they want me to be their ref all the time. I can't catch everybody. For instance:

      SC: That was rude!
      Me: I'm sorry?
SC: That guy just cut infront of me!
Me: Oh. Sorry I wasn't looking up.
SC: Maybe you should pay more attention next time.

Thinking: Oh, yeah, because I just have that much time on my hands. Noo, I don't need to verify my money before I hand it out.

I try to catch these things, I really do. In fact I love telling people to get back in line but I can't catch everybody. She could've said something to him. But the real kicker? There wasn't a line, not really. Two of us were open and there were two people. Hm.

Why did he need you to stand up for him? He couldn't speak up for himself? Wimp. I like how he had the berries to say something to you, an employee, but not to the other customer.

Something similar happened to me, only two things were different, first, the "line" was at LEAST 10 feet away (and probably really a minimum of 15ft, I suck at estimating distances) from the box office, so how is a new arrival to tell in the (very not busy) lobby who's in line and who's being a looky-loo? Two, when the lady b****ed me out, I told her that she was way too far back, and I wasn't looking anyway, so I didn't know until after I'd served him that he cut. Honestly, her whining took up more time than "cutter"'s transaction and hers put together. She went and complained to a manager, but the same day, not long before, I'd had a customer compliment! So it all balanced out.
