I don't mean to be argumentative, but your attitude just reminds me of some of the stories we hear here from the other side (e.g. "Well, Everywhere Else takes credit cards.") I can understand your frustration, but it was policy and that person was following it. It seems like kind of a silly reason not to go somewhere.
Fair enough. I still disagree that I was a SC in the store, but we're all entitled to our own interpretations, right? Agree to disagree, and all that.

And for the record, I would've also accepted an "I don't know" as an answer. Just not telling me something that's obvious BS.

I don't see you as being a SC. However I don't see the cashier as being a sucky worker either. Not everyone pays attention to whats going on in the world. To the cashier, it might be the honest truth. Even through you might have known better.

I've gone through this with my mother. The color of my paint outside my house was the debate. I said it had more yellow, she said it didn't. We both believe our pick of the color was the truth at the time we're standing at the paint store. Of course we both were wrong.

Well, I guess that you were too calm to really be an SC. To really have been, I guess you would have ranted and raved, and demanded that she take your credit card anyway, and demanded that she be fired.
"Boy, you sure must be in pretty bad shape. You ought to go home."
"They won't let me," Yossarian answered with averted eyes, and crept away.

I think fast food places just recently accept plastic as payment.
When I used to work at Wendy's we could do credit cards but I don't remember seeing anyone ever use it now that I think about it... but this was in Pennsylvania, of course.
