  • Parking and Racism *brief strong language*

I just got back from my local grocery store and got to witness this absolutely hysterical exchange!!

I am in the parking lot loading my groceries into my vehicle and this car comes speeding down the parking lot, windows down, rap music blaring, and whips into a parking space. Only problem with this lady's parking job is she was actually in two spaces perfectly, one being a handicap space (the center like that splits the two spaces was directly down the middle of her car so she had a 'half and half' parking job going) the man that is with her jumps out of the car and runs into the liquor store that is next to the grocery store and she sits there.

Well, a Sheriff's Deputy who happend to be patrolling the area saw the parking job and pulls into the lot. Now there is a point to this, but this deputy is black. Anyway, he gets out of his car and walks up to the girl, her rap music is still blaring strong

    D: Deputy
    G: Girl

D: *shouting over the music* Miss, can you please turn that music down, it is way too loud and I need to speak with you briefly.

surprisingly she turns her music off (I say sprisingly because of her attitude shortly after)

D: Miss, do you happen to see how you are parked?
    G:What do you mean?
D: You are directly down the middle of two spaces, one being a handicap space, I need you please to move your vehicle into a space.
G: Why do I have to move, nobody is parked here!

    *I am thinking, WTF*

D: Miss, I am only going to ask you one more time, please move your vehicle
G: But my man will be out in a minute, why do I have to move?
D: Because you are illegally parked, now move your vehicle please
G: Fuck this shit, you are just doing this because I'm black.
D: *obviously puzzled* Miss, look at me, I am black too, race has nothing to do with this.
    G: Well I ain't movin
    D: Ok......liscense please
    G: Why?
D: I am writing you a ticket for parking in a handicap space, that is a $500 fine
G: BUT MY MAN WILL BE BACK IN A MINUTE

*at this point the cop starts writing the ticket and says something into his walkie* (most likely a call for backup)

By this time I am done loading my groceries and get in my car to pull out of the lot. I want to mind my own business but at the same time I was thinking of this board and wanted to see the rest of the exchange. So I slowly drove past them with my windows down and my sunroof open, all I could make out was the girl yelling about how this was "bullshit" and "fucked up". Funny part though was her boyfriend had since come out of the liquor store and I overheard him saying "Baby, just shut up and move the car"

He seemed very embarassed and apologetic to the officer.

At the end of the lot when I was getting ready to pull into traffic I saw another Sheriff's Deputy pulling into the lot. Also black......wonder if he is racist as well

I wish I knew how it ended, but I do know that due to her attitude she now has a nice $500 ticket

I wonder if he specifically called for black backup.

Ha! The thought did cross my mind. Cops have to put up with the strangest things sometimes.

This irritates me to no end. This 'Oh I'll just be here a minute' crap doesn't mean squat, I've seen a 'quick run into the store' turn in a 'let's buy the whole lot' spree in no time. Handicapped means just that, HANDICAPPED. Are you handicapped? Do you have a permit? No? Then... don't park there. Duh! The deputy was well within his rights to give a ticket when she refused to move. It doesn't matter if she was black, white, red, yellow, green, blue, or pink with purple polka dots. Illegal means illegal. There's no time limit on illegal. I can just see it if there was:

Robber: "This is a stick up!"
Worker: <hands in the air> "You can't do that, it's illegal!"
Robber: <shows watch> "Oh, but it's only 10 til, see?"
Worker: "Oh, my bad. Carry on!"

I hope she enjoys her $500 fine, should be a painful lessson.

Don't even start on people who hate people who work for "the man".

It's a known fact that my roomate and I are the only people on this street who have jobs (jobs that earn legitimate money, not drug dealing or soliciting, that is).

I've heard the snickers and my neighbors bitch about "the man" before.

I hate "the man" as much as everyone else does. I'm not a coporate ass kissing woman. But unlike everyone else around where I live, I need my job to live. If it wasn't for people like me working for "the man", these people wouldn't get their checks every month and wouldn't be drinking beer sitting on their porches smoking cigarettes day in and day out.

Wait, are we talking about the same "the man"???

I find it amusing that for once, a person of a certain skin color actually accuses another person of the same color of being a racist. That's humorous. Hahahha. Some people sure do grasp at straws, don't they?

It doesn't matter if it's 2 hours or 2 seconds. If you're in a handicapped space and you don't deserve to be there, you get a nice fat ticket.

Obviously this nitwit never saw that episode of Seinfeld where they parked in a handicapped spot and suffered the consequences, lol.

DAMN THE MAN!!!! save the empire!

I also hate people who bitch about the man or pull the race card (when its unfounded) because they ruin it for people who really are being discriminated against or unfairly prosecuted.

Someone else who uses that expression. Only in my case, it's purple with pink polka dots.

Sadly, though, it happens a lot. All of the black people I know well have had it done to them at least once.
