Safeway is a grocery store chain. I suspect the sandwich shop was part of the deli inside the store.

I love me a Subway sub. I won't even try Quiznos (disgusting and insulting commercials) and I had Togo's once (free sub day) and didn't like it much.

The local Food 4 Less has packaged subs, and they're about what you'd expect from a daily pre-made sub.

    ^-.-^
I loved Quiznos when I lived in Canada. When I came back home they finally opened up a store in the city about 3 years later. I was so excited but the sub didn't taste anywhere near as good as I remembered.

The poor little store didn't last a year before they closed down

But you can't move for tripping over Subways over here. I'm not a huge fan. Their bread gives me gas.

Ugh, I tried Quizno's once. I couldn't even finish half it was nasty. My dad's a big fan of the Safeway ones, and they do look good. I might have to try one soon. Maybe today after work

Heh, I read Subway too. XD The one in the town where I shop is good; they always give me stacks of toppings cuz I say please and thank you. I had no idea it was such a rarity... but I'm not complaining about being rewarded for politeness.

We must get Safeways in Northwest WI

The deli subs and sandwiches in our local grocery delis are rotten enough to make even Kramer cringe.

          NO SUB FOR YOU!

Ok, I went to the local Safeway for lunch at the Deli about ... 20 minutes ago. Now I find this thread and I have to agree. The woman making the sandwiches was a little... less than convivial. When my co-worker began to open his wallet to pay at the till in the deli under the bigass sign that says 'PAY' with the arrow pointing at the till, he was informed, "no, pay up front. *scowl* When he asked for a bag, it was, "Those are up front. *scowl*" and finally, when he had the audacity to ask which of the two sandwiches was the one he'd ordered, "*nearly snarling* They're marked. *scowl*" and then we left for fear of having our sandwich rights revoked. I chalked the whole thing up to the fact that her two other deli workers were not helping her as one was stocking the refrigerated items on the floor and another one appeared to be slacking off and unsure about what he was doing (I watched him pick up the large pizza cutter three times and look at it thoughtfully as though he were contemplating it's use, cleanliness or possible kinship to a bat'leth).

Anyways, unless you're in my part of the country, maybe it's just Safeway policy to hire irritable people for the Deli.

I've never had any problems with any of the Subways I've been to. And the avacado has always been fresh, too.

I've never had a sub from anywhere else that I really liked except for the deli down the street from my office.

Probably a good thing we don't have Safeway here...I'm very picky and I don't like a lot of stuff on my subs...usually turkey, lettuce, and sometimes provolone if I'm in a cheesy mood.

When I go to Chili's I usually get the chicken sandwich that normally comes with honey mustard, lettuce, tomato, swiss cheese and bacon. I don't like tomato, swiss cheese, or bacon. No matter how I ask for it "no tomato, no cheese, no bacon" or "lettuce and honey mustard only" or some other variation, they always get confused...but I've never had anyone be sucky about it. Had the same experience recently at Outback which has a very similar sandwich...at least the guy was good natured about it and I warned him in advance that I'm a pain in the ass .

Weird....the people who work at the 2 Safeway's near me are all cheery to a fault.

Almost scary, really, but hey, I like shopping there

I've never had a problem with anyone working at any Safeway I've been to. Usually they are pleasant at the very least.

I have tried Quizno's before, and they are crap. They put everything on it, and I only wanted a few things. Never had a Safeway one.

                            I also read Subway

I've been debating on whether to post this or not. I guess I will.

Odd. I've never had a problem with Quizno's. I always get my sub exactly how I like it. And they were even helpful enough to point out they don't have provo. (Which I don't understand, but meh. At least they have other good cheeses.)

Of course, my only problem with Subway is that they really don't have enough meat on their subs. Especially since the one I go to charges mall food court prices.
