This happened to me, although i was not the SC in question, but it made me laugh to do it. After work one night, i head to the grocery store, for a few items. Was not in any particular hurry, so i get into the express lane, and there are 2 people in front of me.
Woman who is being checked out doesn't have her card, so the cashier is trying to look it up for her, no problem. As i wait my turn, i FEEL someone behind me, in my personal space. I hate that. I am this close to turning around and asking "is there any particular reason WHY you feel the need to stand so close to me" - at that time, the SC behind me starts saying "OMG, why do they always put the new person on express" Let me just say it was a HS kid, and he was not slow, but had to look up the customer's card, but moved pretty quickly, as i witnessed with the person behind her, in front of me.
SC continues his rant, sighing loudly, and huffing and puffing, and i just knew he wanted someone to say, yeah, i hate that too. BUt i wasn't going to dignify his whining with any reaction, plus he was completely wrong.
So it's my turn, cashier rings my stuff, and i had intended to pay cash...but decided just to irriate the SC behind me, i would pay with a credit card, which meant he had to wait a few more seconds as i swiped my card, watied for approval, and signed the receipt. I felt slightly good about holding him just that little bit more...hahahaha
And on the same subject...i HATE when you are in line, and someone behind you only has the newspaper, and feels the need to reach around you to drop their .25 to pay on the belt, since they are obviously SO important they can't wait the extra minute until its their turn.

No WONDER they don't do it.
