I frequently spend my weekends sleeping on a friend's couch, so I get to deal with their three cats. Two of these cats are shy, quiet, and avoid me most of the time. The third is a cocky ex-tom who craves attention, but rarely bothers me at night. But at one point, when one of the friends had a girl and her pets staying with him, there were four cats, two dogs (including a yappy puppy pomeranian) and a hamster, plus 4 to 7 humans.
The older dog and I got along fine; he slept on my feet, I lay still to keep from disturbing him. But the gf's cat and shy cat #1 did NOT get along. Multiple times their late night spats included a romp across my stomach, claws included.
The first time it happened, I jolted awake, startled and confused. The second time, I jolted awake annoyed. The third time, I groggily smacked gf's cat on the rear and sent it dashing up the stairs. I repeated this a few more times, and they got the hint to do their feuding around the couch rather than on it.
