I usually have no issue with the local pizza place when I ask for a "special" salad... no olives, no onions, no tomatoes, extra cucumbers.

However, last night, when a coworker stopped there to get us all dinner, one of my other coworkers (who got to start first) ignored the "normal" salad, and took mine, saying after I noticed that I "hadn't said anything." And she'd piled all my cucumbers in her lid. I ended up taking the normal salad, picked out what I didn't want, and reclaimed my cukes. :P Had to eat it dry, though, she'd also claimed BOTH things of salad dressing. (One ranch, one Italian.)

So the restaurant got it right, but SC didn't. -.-

We've had a similar problem some times at my work, when ordering multiple meals. When I make the run, I'm super careful, write down everyone's order with their name next to it, and usually seperate everything myself before handing it out, to prevent crap like that. Honestly, the main reason I do that is because I'm picky and don't want anyone else's food.

And while I always try to check my order before leaving a drive thru or carryout place, it bothers me a bit that I feel that I have to assume that any reasonably large order (more than 4-5 items) or any special order will be wrong, and that I need to make sure it's right. I understand that mistakes get made, but at the same time, it is a bit of a pain that I have to double check, especially given how many systems are in place nowadays to prevent mistakes.

Oh, and I do agree with everyone above - when these things do happen, I take a deep breath and remind myself that I make mistakes all the time before I speak to someone about it, and I'd never ask for gas money or anything else just because I was too silly to check my order before driving away.
