So we have two of our stores in the area, people go back and forth between them, and there's usually not much trouble. But unfortunately, as we found out today, some douchebag worker at the other store's been stealing things from customers who really don't know any better.
So this woman comes in with her six year old kid and is asking us about how she goes about selling stuff to our store so she can get junior a new game. I explain it to her, explain that we're the same company as the mall so all the values are the same, so they bring their stuff to sell to us. I ask them if they have our discount card, which they can use to get more added to their credit, and she says that some guy from the other store told her that her card wasn't working and he had to keep it to "fix it." Now, this woman had no way of knowing better. She's never worked there before. Neither did her kid, obviously.
I explain to her how there's no way that was right. I ask the manager, he confirms this. So here's where I started to wonder, what kind of jackass blatently steals some woman's card like that? That's 15 bucks he's basically taken from her, plus whatever discount she may have gotten if her card wasn't "broken." I advised her to complain to the store manager of that store, and the manager I was working with said he'd talk to him as well, because one of his employees was doing some shady business. I felt bad enough for them that I spent thirty minutes on the phone with our customer service to get her card number for her so she could have one again. I hope his ass gets fired.
