I don't see anywhere that the OP was hit. Things were thrown at him, yes. The thrown objects hit him, yes.
Exactly. They physically touched him with bad intent. Plus even if they are not throwing big things, smaller things thrown hard enough and hitting the right place can end up hurting, Also they might have graduated to harder and bigger things that could have REALLY hurt too eventually. I say THIS about both scenarios from personal experience.

I don't care WHAT you are hitting me with, if you are still hitting me you are hitting me. The level of reciprocation may vary depending on the situation and people involved, but I still do not put up with people doing shit like that to me anymore. Not saying I would have hit him if he was so much weaker then me, but I definitely see nothing wrong with what the topic creator did.

That just might be bias from my own bad experience though, but still the way I feel. But then to my mind it is self defense now, so meh.

His collar was popped, wasn't it? I hate it when people pop their collars. It is so NOT cool.
No, it's the 80's coming back to bite us again. Unfortunately, I used to do this....along with the 15 bazillion braclets a-la-Madonna, jazz shoes with no socks. There were just too many fashion crimes to mention. But whaddya want? I'm a complete child of the 80s. I graduated from high school in 1987.

I'm another one who almost hates going to the movies anymore, with the outrageous ticket and food prices, the stupid commercials, and yes, the idiots who don't know how to act in public.

My son and I went to one not too long ago, and I thought it was going to be bad like it was for you. There was a group of kids hanging out at the entrance, carrying on and making quite a bit of noise. And I thought to myself, "Please don't let them be seeing the same movie we are!"

Once we got inside, I pretty much forgot all about them, until I saw -- no, heard them come on, being just as loud as they were outside. But by some miracle, once the movie started, I didn't hear a peep out of them.

Sorry, I guess my story was kind of an anti-climax from the original post.
