  • Yes I work... but not here...(Confusing).

So I'm doing last minute super quick presents, and I wanna get a soda. Oh look, there is a convience store named Plaid Pantry. I know soda is on sale, I like that Soda, so I go in to get. I get my soda, and get in line. Its taking a while, some idiot is yelling at the clerk. I then relize I know said jackass. He was a semi-regular guy at my old store, (Which is not this one). He was being refused for beer. Which is what we're suppose to do. Then he sees ME.

SC: *looks happy* LOOK!!!! DAR A MAAAAAAAAANGZER!!! SELZZ ME BEER!!!" (Yep, he was that drunk*.

The clerk shakes his head. "He doesn't work here...."
SC: "Yed he doess!!! He at Plaid!!! He says ok, or he'll fire you!@!!!" he demands.

ME: *Thinking, and pulling out my cellphone, dial a number. Talk to person".

Clerk is telling the guy he will call police if guy doesn't leave. I tell clerk I already did so.

SC starting to get pissed, and screams at me, saying he thought we were friends, and that I sell to him when he was drunker. (Fact: No, I don't).

Four ro five minutes later, guy comes in. He too works for Plaid. He's our security. He makes guy leave. Then says bye to me.

    Clerks eyes bulge out.

I explain I work for Plaid.

I buy my soda, and get free slurpee.

Actually, you can't get a slurpee at Plaid Pantry, since it's a 7/11 trademark. You can probably (from context of OP - never been to a Plaid Pantry) get a slush drink (generic term).
Any fool can piss on the floor. It takes a talented SC to shit on the ceiling.

No kidding...but I think the rest of us know that already, wolfie. The word 'slurpee', while trademarked, is slowly sliding into everyday usage as meaning a slush drink, hence the use of it by Plaidman. No need to get your panties in a twist over it.
At my work they're called Icees but most people say Squishie.

XD I figured it be easier just to say Slurpee, rather then FCB.

Yeah, it's like Kleenex, Jell-o, and Xerox. Yes, they're trademarked, but they've also become a generic term for said item.

                      Not anymore.

In 1950, the landmark case Haughton Elevator Co. v. Seeberger precipitated the end of Otis’ reign over exclusive use of the word “escalator,” and simultaneously created a cautionary study for companies and individuals interested in trademark retention. Confirming the contention of the Examiner of Trademark Interferences, Assistant Commissioner of Patents Murphy’s decision rejected the Otis Elevator Company’s appeal to keep their trademark intact, and noted that “the term ‘escalator’ is recognized by the general public as the name for a moving stairway and not the source thereof,” observing that the Otis Elevator Co. had “used the term as a generic descriptive term . . . in a number of patents which [had] been issued to them and . . . in their advertising matter.” All trademark protections were removed from the word “escalator,” the term was officially genericized, and it fell into the public domain.

                      Whew....

Hoover is another (is it the same in the US?)

The cinema sells frosted, sugar-filled, garishly-coloured drinks called Ice Blasts, yet plenty of people call them Slush Puppies. I guess those are the names for Slushies over here.

Ummm....let's move this rail over here, and this one over here and see if we can get this thread back on topic.

We are all impressed by the vast knowledge of trademarks displayed here, but that's not what the thread was about, and I think we all realized Plaidman wasn't at a 7/11 and therefore was not actually buying a "Slurpee" ™, since he mentioned he was at Plaid Pantry and his name is...well...Plaidman!.
Too tired of living and too tired to end it. What a conundrum.

it already happened to the South Australian Brewing Company*, they were forced to stop making Duff beer

*Which is not based in Barton as most articles seem to say... they're in Thebarton. Thebarton's probably the only suburb in the world named after a pub... The Barton Hotel.
