  • Thank You WH Smith

WH Smith is a book/dvd/music/game store chain in the UK. Maybe this belongs on Planet Feedback, but I thought it was worth a mention here.

    Christmas Day: The following happens.

Ugly Betty DVD set: Sister opens it...no DVD's inside!

Wii Controller: Sister opens it...no controller inside!

Doctor Who DVD box set: No one can open it because they still have security tags!

All of these were purchased from the same store. OK, it can be argued that we should have checked them before we wrapped them, but still...for THREE gifts to go that wrong?

It was a fun Boxing Day trip for my dad back to that store!

As far as I think you're concerned, only the Doctor Who dvd set could have been checked for the security tags. Other than that, you shouldn't have had to check to make sure your products were inside the packaging. If they were used, they should have been checked at point of sale. If they were brand new, they should have sealed security measures that prevent people from stealing the product without anyone noticing. Good luck getting that stuff returned.
Jim: Fact: Bears eat beets. Bears. Beets. Battlestar Gallactica.
Dwight: Bears don't eat bee... Hey! What are you doing?

      Ah the joys of Smiths...

the only store that once had an honesty box for products. That was a good idea.

This was for newspapers only and was a little coin thingie but I'm sure they lost money hand over fist for that.
A PSA, if I may, as well as another.

They still have those coin boxes at Major Railway Station outlets ... certainly at Manchester Piccadilly anyways.

happened to me from planet music. bought dad a dvd and sent it to him... granted i was pretty late on getting it out... but it was unopened when i sent it. what he got however was ... AOL? (i mean really... who does that, i mean it wasn't even a *popular* movie, just an old classic WW2 flick)

thankfully they were nice enough to exchange it for me.
