  • Subway out of bread!

I had a really bad morning today. I mean, on top of having to work Christmas night, having to deal with DipShit, all I wanted this morning was Subway to eat later tonight.

I go to the Subway closest to where I live, walk in the door, and the girl behind the counter says "We ran out of bread last night." I kind of looked at her weird and she said "All we can do are wraps." So I pleasantly said no thanks and left.

Subway out of bread? Ok I can understand toppings and meat, but bread is almost the entire sandwich! I wouldn't be surprised if that Subway didn't get any business today....there wasn't even any bread baking either...they had none!

So then I decided to go tanning, and figured, well, Arby's opens at 9:30 around here....so afterwards, I pull up there in the drive-thru, and this overbearingly loud young woman's voice blares "WE DON'T OPEN UNTIL 10 AM!" so I drive away, and while I do, I see cars parked in the parking lot, and I see some elderly people sitting in the dining room. Closed, my ass. They probably just didn't feel like doing anything other than making coffee. The Arby's in my parents' town opens at 9:30...I realize times can differ, but if there are cars in the lot and people in the dining room, don't shoo someone away.

So then I went back to the original Subway idea. Had to go all the way to the other side of town. By the way, the weather was just slushy and slippery.

I get to another Subway and thank gosh, they DO have bread. The lady behind the counter said something, almost muttering, like "Well if those stupid kids would get there early enough, that wouldn't happen" or something. Either way, I thanked her profusely for having bread and finally was able to go home.

Even though I didn't act like an SC, I probably thought iike one today. Subway out of bread? Wtf?! Arby's dining room open, but drive thru closed? Stupid kids working at Arby's not feeling like doing anything? Who knows. I feel bad thinking that way, but geez..what a BAD morning.

I kinda understand what happened to Subway. They probably ran out of dough the night before and were waiting on the shipment they were going to receive that day. We have that problem at Panera's a lot. We only order so much pre-made dough each day and therefore bake only a certain amount of bagels/pastries/baguettes every day. And once we're out, we're out till the next day. Last week we sold out of EVERY bagel except french toast by 7:00pm.

It sucks but it happens. *shrugs*

Sorry but when I worked at Subway the dough cames in frozen logs that you put out in the proofer? they thaw and then get put in to bake...feel sorry for that girl probably the night close should have pulled the dough and didnt wich means she has to wait for it to thaw and rise to bake it..it sucks..good job you didnt snap on her...just thinking like a SC doenst make you one.

Of course not, I was upset but I didn't say anything rude, I just said no thanks and left.

I do feel kind of bad that she probably dealt with a lot of SCs all day over this.

I've been to BKs where they were out of Whopper-sized meat (loooooooooong before the current practical joke on TV), and I've been to Little Ceasar's where they've been out of pizza dough. The LC has since closed down, but the BK is still open, and still consistantly out of meat.

There was one night at the pizza place when we ran out of pizza bases; we only had a limited amount of pans to put the doughs in so when we ran out, that was it. That happened on a certain Euro match where Germany lost to England; the score was 5-1 so the place was slammed before, during and just after the match. We ended up doing really well with selling side orders. XD Tho there were a few idiots who were going, "You can't run out of pizza!" -.-

I had that happen once when I went to Subway for lunch. I politely made them a deal...I'd take a wrap at regular sandwich price. They agreed, but then the lady behind me in line said in that typical SC tone, "Well, if HE didn't have to pay for a wrap, I shouldn't either!"

In retrospect, I shouldn't have started that precedent, even if I tried to be as nice as possible about it.

Oh absolutely not, I'm a carboholic........and the only meat I'm willing to eat (save for the cardboard meat at McDonalds, lol) is from Subway and the sandwiches at work. I don't eat vegetables or anything "low carb".

Fortuately, there are 3 or 4 Subways where I live. If I lived in a smaller town, I would have been SOL.

I'm sure they taste fine, BrightStar, they just really aren't my cup of pasta.

I have a similar problem with the subway here by me. The only problem is..they are always out of EVERYTHING when I say everything, about the only thing they DO have is bread. Now granted I do live in the tourist capital of Wisconsin, but I think they should order more than 10 yogurts (not 10 cases....10 units) per order. Apparently they do ordering every 2 weeks. Last time I went to this particular subway, the only thing that they had were meatballs and jalepeno peppers. No lettuce...no cheese....no other veggies.....just meatballs and jalepeno. The only soda they had available was sierra mist, and the only side they had available were plain baked potato chips. I havent been back since because this is a regular occurence.

when i worked at subway (my sister works there too) that happened a few times. You had to proff for a certain ammount of time after thawing and if we ran out of bread the night before and then sandwiches couldn't be made right away. also you had to be trained in the oven and they might not have. I know it sounds weird, but if i tried to bake there would have been no bread for rest of the day (it would be burned, destroyed, i would have burned down the store..... hell i wasnt even alloud to make cookies without suppervision...) oh and mmmmm wraps... yummy......

At Mcdonalds Today I wanted a side salad with my meal, after a 5 minute wait I was told they were out of the normal leaves, I said fine just something 'saladdy' would be fine. I got my salad with random lettuce, the big tomato slices out of the burgers and swiss cheese. Pretty random but then when I asked about cutlery they had no forks! I had to try and eat my random salad with a knife and spoon

I much preferred this to being told "no salad" though, which has happened many times.

There was the time at a restaurant my beef burger arrived at the table with no beef, that is a whole other story.

i think most LCs are closed now...? they all moved inside kmart i think - and without the full menu. which is sad cos a mushroom & peppercini (banana peppers) pizza was good.

thankfully here, the 711 is walking distance and hey there's always the beef bowl place, open 247. (not even sure what the name is, we just call it 'beef bowl')

Christmas was really, really busy at the cinema and we have not had nearly enough stock to cover the 10 days or so we haven't had a delivery and we have run out of:

                            Hot dog rolls
                            bottled water
                            bottled fruity drinks
                            holders for coffee cups
                            bagged toffee popcorn

On Sunday the gas for the fizzy drinks broke down, so we had no Pepsi etc

It is been quite a week!

Actually, we had one standalone LC open recently about 45 minutes from here. They even have a drive-thru.
