This is an old story, but still worth repeating. A couple years ago the ex and I went out to eat at Country Kitchen. We'd been there multiple times, and always got great food and service.
So we go in, get seated, and there's no other tables in our section. The waitress comes over takes our drink order, then reappears a few minutes later to ask if we were ready to order. We ask what the daily special is, and the waitress asks us to wait a second while she goes to look. No big deal, we wait a few minutes, she comes back, we decide to order something else.
Food is delivered, our drinks are about halfway gone, she doesn't ask about refills. Again not a huge deal, we're just happy to have the food. The waitress never did check on us, ask us how things were, and to get a refill we had to ask another waitress.
We finished our meal, and by this point there was an elderly couple sitting in our section. Our waitress walks by us several times, and looks at our plates, neatly stacked on the edge of the table, trash gathered, and ignores them. I think she did this about 5 or 6 times, and never even acknowledged us.
We wanted dessert before we left, but the waitress never did check back with us about our bill or dessert, and never took away our dirty dishes. I finally made the ex go and get a manager, and politely explained the situation. The manager was mortified, instantly cleaned up our table, free desserts, and a discount on our meal. Also explained that she had a lot of complaints about this waitress and this was the last straw. We told her we understood, and the food was great, we were just disappointed with the service, but were glad it was being taken care of.
When we went to pay guess who rang us up? Yep crappy waitress, and she even had the nerve to ask how everything was. I responded that the food was great, and wished I could say the same about the service we received. She just shrugged, and rolled her eyes, we paid and left. A couple minutes after we left, we see crappy waitress walking out to her car carrying her apron and crying. We were definitely happy our complaint was taken seriously and she was fired.
